Recently we conducted an informal survey of Local Family Day Care (FDC) educators – The results surprised us:
Summary of results from a sample group of 150 active, or past educators:
- 95% of the child restraints where fitted incorrectly and the educators were unaware of issues.
- 80% admitted that they did not check the child restraint on a regular basis – or ensure it was right for the child.
- 75% of the child restraints were non-compliant, including overseas models.
- 85% wanted to learn more about this.
- 79% were confused about which restraints suited their needs.
- 68% simply wanted “the piece of paper signed for their audits”.
- 97% were not aware of the risks to other people’s’ children.

- One-on-one training for New Educators – $70 for a 90 minute overview.
- Child Restraint Audit – $45 for Annual Child Restraint Audits – checking restraints and ensuring the educator has fitted these correctly and they are suitable for the children they are transporting.
